I Repent

It was brought to my attention that my previous Celebrity Playlist did have a hole in it, and for this I am truly sorry. It was not my express intention to misrepresent myself as so crass. While some questioned the validity Metallica's inclusion (I'm listening to No Leaf Clover right now), I'd like to strike the President's song from the record. An enjoyable track, to be sure, but definately one I can live without. In its stead, I'd like to insert Luckenback, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love) by Waylon Jennings. A classic country track extolling the virtues of living simply and authentically, it's a relaxed two-step away from Heaven. In retrospect, it's rather shocking I didn't have a country track on there the first go round, and again I'd like to set the record strait. Waylon in, Presidents out. Metallica stays.

Mine's coming. I'm trying to rip that Eva Cassidy cd. My comp hates it. Blindly.

That's right, man. I'm going audio.

I can definitely give you some space on my server if you'd like some.

I'll take it, but you'd have to promise not to censor the content.

As long as it's not satanic, I promise not to sensor. I'll figure out how to do it tonight.

Okay, here's my ten...

1. “Colors” – Amos Lee - I tend to like “folk” ballads, so this song is really representing a large portion of my current listening selection. Other favorites include some mainstream artists like Gavin DeGraw, James Blunt, Ray LaMontagne, Marc Broussard etc.

2. “Nearness of You” – Norah Jones – Really her whole first album is a staple of mine, I put it on repeat when I am painting.

3. “Ode to a Butterfly” – Nickel Creek – If I could play any instrument really well I would love for it to be a fiddle so I could play this song. There is something about this style of music that makes me feel at home.

4. “When I get where I’m going” – Brad Paisley and Dolly Pardon There is just something about Dolly Pardon’s tone that I just love. Randy Travis has that going on as well.

5. “Wedding Dress” – Derek Webb – This is one step above most Christian songs for me. Beautiful song but you can’t miss the lyrics that demand us to be honest with how we view God.

6. “Without Me” – Eminem – Kid had some stuff to say and had no problem saying it with style. Gotta respect that. One of the best artists of his genre.

7. “If I ain’t got you” – Alicia Keyes – Can’t say this is really in my playlist at the moment, but I feel its necessary to throw back to the formative high school music with at least one quality song.

8. “Songs about Texas” – Pat Green – Quintessential Texan musician. Has a lot of crap songs but this one reminds me of home.

9. “Tiny Dancer” – Elton John – As some of my former roommates can attest, I can’t help but sing along with this and several other Elton songs. Fantastic writer.

10. “Crane Wife” – The Decemberists – Ten points for originality

Okay, if I did this, I need at least top fives from you other folks :)
