I actually think that Carrie has done well in the Country market, so this isn't a slam on her. This song has been bugging me for a while, though, and I thought I'd feed it to the wolves to see what yall think. Click on the video and move ahead to :40 and/or read the chorus provided below. Woman power, right? Female empowerment? Three snaps in a 'Z', etc, etc. Now switch the gender pronouns and ask Quaadir Brown if the tune sounds familiar . . .
That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

Nicely played.
You know what I think is weird? In the world of make believe, girls can be anything they want. They can be playful princesses who write about dating and bra trouble, seductresses, and experts in carrying out revenge. This song and the new release shelf at Borders clearly illustrate this. In real life, not so much. They'd be flightly, sluts, and bully bosses. Why do you think that is?
That can be taken awry. I meant we can see certain roles one way in entertainment, but in real life we see the same behavior differently.
I was raised by an omni-competent single mom. I didn't mean the above in any kind of overarching way.
I really like the song.
But you're right, Micah. Isn't never ok to vandalize.
Was that the question? :)
didn't get the signature in there quick enough.
that was from me.

Ha, there's no question. Just an observation. How long would it take for the radio station, recording artist and label to get crucified on the international stage if this song was sung by a man about his whoring girlfriend? I may be totally off base here, but I haven't talked to anyone yet who seems in bothered in the slightest by Carrie's popular single. I doubt the case would be remotely similar were the genders reversed.
Well, if there were a question, it would be this: Why is it ok for a girl to vandalize her cheating bf's property, but not for a guy to do the same? I'm not talking about legally, obviously both are culpable and could be brought up on charges. I ask rather about the court of public opinion.
